In the heart of West Africa, where the Sahel meets the long breath of the Sahara, the land carries a colour that seems to hold the memory of the sun itself. The earth is red. Not the dull red of clay, but a deep living colour that stains the roads, the fields, and the walls of the cities.

At the centre of the country lies the capital. A city that rises slowly from that same red soil. The streets are alive with motion from the earliest light of morning. Motorbikes weave through narrow roads, and life is lived close to the ground.

The markets are the true heart of the city. Here colour gathers in every direction — woven fabrics hanging like banners of sunlight, bowls of millet and rice stacked in careful pyramids. Conversations flow in many languages, voices rising and falling in rhythms older than the city itself.

In the evening the heat softens and the sky widens. The stars appear quickly in this part of the world. Without the glare of great cities they shine with a clarity that feels almost close enough to touch.
