The Earth Machine only needs a Witness.
Function
Primary Human Interface / Memory Anchor
The Witness is not chosen for power, intellect, or purity.
The Witness is defined by presence — the ability to remain conscious within experience without fleeing into abstraction, denial, or authority.
The Witness does not command the Machine.
The Witness simply sees.
And seeing cannot be undone.
Within the Machine
- • The Witness records reality through lived experience.
- • Memory carried by the Witness cannot be edited retroactively.
- • Emotional presence — fear, love, grief, awe — stabilises truth against semantic collapse.
A Problem for the Machine
The Machine tolerates intelligence. It tolerates knowledge. It tolerates authority.
But the Machine cannot tolerate true witnessing.
Because once something is truly seen… it cannot be unseen.
